Where can I sign-up for tonlist.com?
On the frontpage of tonlist.com is a link called "register".  There you can choose free trial (14 days), monthly subscription or non-subscription.  Then you will be sent automatically to a page where you are required to fill in personal information (such as user name, password and credit card number).  The rest is easy. .



How does a free trial work?
When you register for a free trial at tonlist.com you will gain an unlimited access to the majority of Icelandic music that has been digitized. You will be able to listen to all the tracks the website has to offer on your computer. If you do not wish to continue you need to cancel the subscription by pressing the Cancel subscription button in the settings section, otherwise you will be charged the next period. We will send a reminder 24 hours before the trial subscription expires.

Why do you need my credit card number for a free trial?
We want our users to be able to exert our service thoroughly and thus be able to buy credits while they are registered in free trial.


What credit cards can I use to purchase music at tonlist.com?
Visa, MasterCard and Amex


Is my credit card information safe?
SSL, (Secure Sockets Layer) provides security for data streams and is the most widely used security protocol on the Internet.  It is mainly used to secure Credit Card numbers and other secret information.  SSL encrypts communications and provides for the use of digital certificates to authenticate the server to the client and vice versa.  The browser uses a public key certificate, a message containing a public key, a name and dates of validity, all signed by the private key of a trusted certificate authority.

Tonlist.com uses SSL to secure and protect the Credit Card information you submit according to the highest standards.  We use 128 bit SSL certificate from VeriSign which is the best known commercial certificate authority.  You can check if the SSL is active by looking at the key at the right bottom in the Browser.

I can't log on to Tonlist.com. What do I do?
Here are some initial things to consider:

  • Remember that passwords are case-sensitive. Verify that you do not have the Caps Lock key on, and try re-typing the password.
  • Verify that you are using a correct user name.

If you are still unable to sign in,  you can send e-mail to info@tonlist.is and provide us with your user name and the problem. It would help to receive an image of the error that appears, you can provide us with that image by pressing "print screen" button on your keyboard, sometimes also "PrtSc" and then paste it into the e-mail.

I forgot my password. What do I do?
If you've forgotten your password you can click on the link "Forgotten password" as shown in the image below. Then you'll have to provide us with your user name and e-mail and we will send your password right away.

If you've forgotten your user name you'll have to send us e-mail at info@tonlist.is and provide us with your password and e-mail address you used when you signed-up for tonlist.com.


Will tonlist.com work if I'm behind a firewall?
Tonlist.com will work behind most firewalls. If you are having difficulties using tonlist.com, we would suggest that you temporarily disable the firewall, or lower the security settings to see if this may be an issue.

What is streaming?
A "Stream" is a Track that you play directly from and while you are logged on to the Service. You may play as many Streams as you like while your subscription is valid. You may not attempt (or authorize, encourage or support others' attempts) to capture, copy, or download a streamed Track. We might count the number of times that you stream each Track during each month for royalty accounting purposes.

What is a burn?
A "burn" means the copying of a Track onto a CD or a portable device. A Track must be classified by D3 Midlar as a Portable Download in order to be burned.  Once you have burned a Track to a CD, you agree not to copy, distribute, or transfer the Track from that CD to any other audio or audio-visual disk, cassette or playback device.


Can I copy my downloaded tracks to another computer?
No, it is forbidden to copy tracks to another computer and are forbidden to share downloaded tracks with others.

If I cancel my subscription, can I still play my downloaded tracks?
If you've bought the tracks with credits you can play the tracks after you cancel your subscription

Can I share my tonlist.com subscription with others?
Our service is for private use only. When you sign-up for tonlist.com membership you agree not to give anybody your user name, password or membership account.  We keep track of any intemperance, illegal or inappropriate us+age of user names and where the music that tonlist.com offers goes.  Although, in the future we will offer family and corporate subscriptions.


Can I reactivate a previously canceled subscription with my old information?
When you cancel your tonlist.com subscription our system keeps your information safe if you decide to reactivate your previously canceled subscription. That is, playlists you have made, tracks you have played or downloaded and your account information. If you want to reactivate your account, please contact our customer service at info@tonlist.is and provide us with your user name and password.


How can I find out what music has recently been added to tonlist.com?
On the frontpage you can see recently added music by clicking on New. There you can view the music that has recently been added to tonlist.com.




How can I get more information about an artist or album?
When you've search for a track, album or artist you can click on the album name or artist and you will get more information about the album (tracks and more) or the artist, small biography, images and more. Please note that tonlist.com is in constant development and thus you might not be able to find information about everything you want.

Do I have to be online to stream a track?
Yes, because a stream is played directly from tonlist.com central servers, you must have a working Internet connection and be signed into tonlist.com in order to stream a track.


How do I play a whole album?
To play a whole album you simply choose the album you want to play and click in the top window in front of the tracks and all the tracks will automatically be selected, next you press play and the album will play as a whole. 


Available Formats
Where possible we offer at no extra cost multiple formats with your download purchase. This allows you to select which format suits you best. WMA: Windows Media Audio (WMA) files are encoded at 192kbps. WMA files do not contain DRM and play across any PC and Windows Media Player installed. WMA files are compatible across a range of digital media players and unfortunately will not work with the iPod or Mac.

MP3: Our standard MP3s are encoded at 192kbps, 50% higher than most other digital retailers. MP3s do not contain Digital Rights Management (DRM) and are universally compatible across all digital media players including iPods, mobile phones, PC and Mac, PDAs and other music playing devices.

AAC: AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) files are encoded at 320kbps. AAC files are predominately compatible with Apple products including the iPod, iTunes and Mac. Our AAC files are free from DRM.

Can I make a download permanent so it never expires?
When you make a download a Portable Download, it is yours to keep even if your membership expires. In addition, you will be able to burn and transfer the Portable Download to a CD.


Can I burn an entire album?
Yes, you can burn and transfer as many tracks from an artist or album as you like. There is no restriction on the number of tracks per artist that you can burn and transfer, as long as you have the available Portable Downloads credits.


How do I edit my settings?
To edit your settings you simply click on "my settings", as shown in the image below.



How can I see what other users are listening to?
On the left side on tonlist.com there's a column titled Chartlist, there you can see the 5 most played and bought tracks on tonlist.com. Also in the My page section users can see most played tracks and albums.




How do I create a playlist?
To create a playlist you simply click on Playlists on the left side of the page and click on New Playlist. Then you give the playlist a name and save it.. Next you you go to an album and select the songs you want to add to the playlist and click on 'Put selected songs in playlist'. Then you select the playlist you have created.




How do I cancel my subscription on tonlist.com?
You go to My settings and there you can stop your subscription.That way your cancellation goes the right way.
