Late in 2000 Arni, Bjarni and Steini formed a band to take part in a local music competition, in their hometown Akranes, which is about a half-hour drive from ReykjavÌk. Sadly they didnt win but were strongly encouraged to carry on with their unique composures. Later that year, their collaboration brought forth a demo that caught the attention of Thule Musik. The Worm started working hard on recording material for their first album, set to be released on Uni: form, the electronic music division of Thule Musik.
At first the Worms music was purely aimed at the underground music scene but as the band evolved they were joined by two vocalists, making the project even more appealing! Furthermore a bass-player was added to their live show and the band played several gigs in Reykjavik, including a set at the prestigeous Icelandic Airwaves Festival. Their music can best be described as a mixture of minimal electronica, with a touch of elements from pop music, similar to the music of bands such as Saint Etienne, Boards of Canada and m·m. Basically, beautiful melodies and all sorts of hypnotic and strange synthesizer generated sounds.
