Guðrún Gunnarsdóttir (1963) has had a successful career as a singer for two decades.
She has tried her hand at many different things and made numerous guest appearances on other artists’s albums. She has sung popular songs on many compilation albums including Minningarplöturnar (The Memory albums) and Íslandslög (Songs of Iceland). All her recordings put together would fill many albums. Guðrún has also been part of many musical productions; the most prominent being the role of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar in Borgarleikhúsið Theatre in 1995. She has also taken part in musical performances of many kinds. Her first solo album is called Óður til Ellýjar (An Ode to Elly) and was recorded live during a concert dedicated to the memory of singer Elly Vilhjálms in Salurinn concert hall on November 14, 2002.
