Ásgerður Júníusdóttir, mezzo-soprano, has appeared as a singer and actress in concerts, plays, and arts festivals in Reykjavík, London, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, and elsewhere in Europe. She has made two CDs, Minn heimur og þinn (Tapestry of dreams), which contains songs and poems by Icelandic women, and Í rökkri (At Twilight), containing songs by Magnús Blöndal Jóhannsson. Both CDs were nominated for the Icelandic Music Award. She has focused on 20th- and 21st-century music and premiered works by numerous contemporary composers, including Jórunn Viðar, Atli Heimr Sveinsson, Haukur Tómasson, Karólína Eiríksdóttir, and Ragnhildur Gísladóttir.
Among the parts that Ásgerður has performed on stage are those of Carmen in George Bizet’s opera of the same name at the Municipal Theater in Reykjavík, the title role in the premiere production of Madonna Furioso by Bertil Palmar Johansen, and the Shadow Princess in Skuggaleikur (Play of Shadows) by Karólína Eiríksdóttir. She has also acted and sung in the mono-opera The Medium by Peter Maxwell Davies and the plays Common Nonsense and Ball of Yarn.
