Trabant

Trabant is sexy electronic music, a punky flavor of R&B. It is music made for sweat, neon lights and a world gone wrong. Trabant released their critically acclaimed debut "Moment of Truth" in 2001, giving us a glimpse of the future with songs like "Enter Spacebar" and "Lady Elephant." Muzik magazine described Trabant as "beer-fueled future funk as innovative as the first Pink Floyd record was at its time." Moving away from its studio-based focus, Trabant has since developed a raw and filthy live attitude. These boys are notorious for playing for their lives at their concerts, taking it to "eleven"-- musically and morally. In the last year Trabant has headlined shows in Barcelona, Tokyo and at New York's Central Park Summerstage, in addition to touring Europe as support for fellow Icelandic act Gus Gus.

Trabant's four members come from very different backgrounds in the Reykjavik music scene:  Hlynur a.k.a. Prince of Darkness (keyboards) is a classical composer and a former leader of death metal band Sneakers nr. 42. Viðar Hákon (bass, guitar, keyboards) is a rap producer and local bass hero pumped up with sailor's blood from the west of Iceland. Thorvaldur Grondal (drums) is a preacher's son who has been in playing in various exciting Reykjavik bands since he was 12 including the rockabilly desert kings of Iceland "Kvartett Ó. Jónsson & Grjoni". Ragnar Kjartansson (Vocals, guitar, keyboards) is also a visual artist, who in the dark past was a member of the Icelandic boy band Kosy.
Together, all these influences explode in the mighty Trabant.
