Lára Rúnars
Lára Rúnarsdóttir is a singer and songwriter who put out her debut solo album, "Standing Still" in November 2003. Since then she has appeared many times on TV and radio and held several concerts. Earlier this year she released her second solo album, "Þögn" (Silence), where she works with various musicians, among them the Jaguar founding members, the brothers Börkur Hrafn and Daði Birgisson, and Damien Rice, who sings backing vocals and plays guitar in one of the songs.
From the beginning Lára has been greeted with enthusiasm and received excellent reviews. At home and abroad her music has been said to be lyrical and personal. Or, as it is put in a news release from Dennis Records, "her songs are tender and soulful and leave no one untouched."
Lára recently gave concerts in Los Angeles and last summer she toured Iceland to follow up her new album.
Lára has a degree in classical singing. She is currently working on a degree in musical education at the Teacher's Training College in Reykjavík, spending this semester in Madrid. Apart from singing, she plays the piano and the guitar
