Hera Björk

Hera Björk is one of Iceland's most famous singers. Her mother is a well known singer, and from an early age it was obvious what path Hera Björk's career would take. With a large vocal range, and comfortable in many vocal styles,

Hera Björk has released two solo albums, worked with some of Iceland's foremost artists, and toured the country with her own band, 17 Vélar. In 2000 she released Ilmur af jólum (Scent of Christmas), a collection of Christmas songs, which is now an Icelandic classic. She followed this up in 2006 with Hera, and is currently working on a third album. Hera Björk has also made numerous appearances on television, most notably in 1999-2000 as a host on Icelandic National Television's primetime variety show, Stutt í spunann.

In addition to her busy performance and recording schedule, Hera Björk is in demand as a vocal coach. Since 2004 she has been closely associated with the Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen, where she trained in the revolutionary singing technique pioneered by the institute's founder, Cathrine Sadolin. As a certified CVI teacher Hera gives masterclasses and courses all over Europe. She has worked as a vocal coach for television and many of Iceland's premiere theatres, and was a coach and backing vocalist for Iceland's 2008 Eurovision entry in Belgrade.
