Moses Hightower have released their debut album entitled
Búum til börn (icelandic for Let’s make babies). That, along with the fact that the members of Moses Hightower have spent many, many hours listening to Sly & The Family Stone, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers and classic Icelandic pop of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s -- pretty much sums up what we’re dealing with, here.
Moses Hightower's mellow take on 70's blue-eyed soul first came to the attention of Icelandic listeners when their plain-spoken single 'Búum til börn' (Let's Make Babies) received a fair amount of airplay on national radio in early 2008.
From late 2007 through 2009 they were the live band for solo chanteuse Dísa, and in 2008 a beefed-up version of the band performed a tribute to Afro-Beat legend Fela Kuti at the Múlinn Jazz Festival. In July 2010 they released their debut album Búum til börn to warm reviews and generous airplay.
